The industry generally divides manufacturing into five primary production processes. Here is how they are defined and how Evocon tracks them:

  • Repetitive production — High-volume, low-variety dedicated production lines producing the same item. Evocon tracks these lines against targets.
  • Discrete production — Individual, countable products that you can touch, pick up, and take apart. Evocon counts units automatically via IIoT and/or via PLC.
  • Job Shop production — Low volume, high variety, or custom, one-off projects. Evocon is not ideal for custom, one-off work.
  • Batch production — Producing a set quantity of identical goods before switching setups. Evocon tracks both discrete batches (counting parts) and process batches using duration, flow, or weight.
  • Continuous production — Continuous, flowing production without interruption, such as chemicals or oil. Evocon tracks these using Time Mode, which monitors continuous operations based on duration, flow, or by tracking downstream packaging and filling lines where the product becomes countable.
